Coroico Camp, The Yungas and learning Spanish and then OUCH!

the other side of the
drop from the Death Road.
After making our way across the Camino de al muerte a.k.a Death Road, we are at the beautiful town of Coroico. Way up high in the mountains in the Yungas (Jungle) we are hidden away in the mountains with nature. It's a place that causes worship and wonder.

The camp is a chance to get to know more of the other volunteers that have come to Bolivia for 6 - 12 months. There are about 23 of us which means that we will definitely have company for the year and travel buddies which will be great. We also had our first course of Spanish lessons so that was great to start to get to grips with the language. I have to admit that despite feeling very at home here already I know that in a few days I will be going to Cochabamba and will be working and living there and may be quite isolated so not having a strong grasp of the language is a going to have its affect i am sure. Feel a litle bit nervous about heading into the deep end without knowing how to swim.

Any way... back to the beautiful scenery..

Exotic Flowers & Hibiscus.

All was going well on our four day camp when we decided to go up for a lovely hike around the town up hills to get an even higher view:

and then we went to visit the town.... and this happened:

No it's not poo, it's mud.
helpful for getting poison out ... apparently. It seemed to do the trick.

Well, success week so far i believe!! They have HUGE wasps, about three times as big as English ones and trust me to be the one that gets stung! and it hurt big time! I now have a 'scar' which pretty much looks like a hole in my thumb. Bolivian seal?!?!
